During my graduation internship at Saltwater, I worked on an innovative design for offshore cable repair systems. The combination of technical challenge, independence, and collaboration made it a valuable learning experience. The variety of projects and positive working environment motivated me to continue my career at Saltwater after my internship.
I was looking for a graduation internship where I could challenge myself technically and get to know a different field of engineering. The combination of maritime engineering and practical challenges at Saltwater immediately appealed to me.
During my internship, I worked on a graduation project focused on designing an alternative system for offshore cable repairs. The goal was to develop a more compact and flexible system that could be used on smaller vessels. To achieve this, I analyzed existing solutions, defined requirements, and developed several concepts into a well-founded design.
What made my internship challenging was the combination of different disciplines. You work on a solution that does not yet exist, which requires creativity, technical insight, and making well-reasoned decisions. At the same time, I was given a lot of freedom to determine my own approach, which helped me become more independent.
Within the team, I quickly felt part of the whole. Communication is direct, colleagues are approachable, and there is always room to ask questions or discuss ideas.
The combination of challenging work and a positive working environment led me to continue my career at Saltwater after my internship.
