Learning in practice

During my graduation internship at Saltwater, I worked on a technical challenge related to ship stability. The combination of independence, guidance, and an open work environment allowed me to learn a lot. The positive collaboration and development opportunities motivated me to continue working at Saltwater after my internship.

During my studies at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, I was introduced to Saltwater through a lecturer. The atmosphere immediately appealed to me and was the deciding factor in choosing to start my internship here.

During my graduation internship, I worked on an assignment focused on ship stability, where I researched how to reduce rolling motions caused by waves and external forces. For this, I used software such as OrcaFlex and HECSTAB to analyze movements and stability.

What made my internship valuable was the combination of independence and guidance. I was able to work on my assignment independently, while always having support when needed. I also learned that you don’t have to know everything yourself, and that asking questions and working together leads to better solutions.

Within the team, I quickly felt at home. The atmosphere is open and supportive, making collaboration natural and allowing you to truly become part of the team.

I enjoyed the internship so much that I decided to continue working at Saltwater and further develop myself within the field.
